Thank you again to everyone who has shown us love over the last 12 years. As I've mentioned before, I started Sick On Sin as a temporary thing to do while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I honestly never expected the gig to last this long! While there's definitely been hardships and moments of doubt, overall these years have been pretty A-OK! I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life, but until I do I'm happy to keep dishing out the cute shirts and accessories! :D

    xoxox,
    Jen

P.S. Just a reminder that mail takes longer during December so if you want to get Christmas / Holiday gifts, don't delay getting your order in!! I'm working super hard getting orders out asap but I'm the only person making items and packing them up and can only go so fast! Below are the suggested order by dates to help ensure you get your goodies in time. (FYI I'll be shipping orders right up till Dec. 21 and then taking a little holiday break.)

Thank you again to everyone who has shown us love over the last 11 years. It's been a super fun ride! That said, 11 years is a long time and I've been thinking a lot lately about the future of SOS. I'm hoping to start make some changes in 2017 to breathe some new life into the brand (and reignite some of the passion I felt in the beginning). I hope you all stick along for the journey!

P.S. IMPORTANT UPDATE: As you may already know, American Apparel (the clothing brand we use) declared bankruptcy and has ceased wholesale operations. There is talk of another company taking them over but in the meantime we are currently unable to order from them. We have a fair amount of adult and kid shirts in stock however we are VERY low on infant sizes and women's underwear.

We are working to keep the website updated regarding size / colour availability but please understand there may be an issue where an option is ordered that we can't fulfill. To ensure you get what you want - please order asap as stock will definitely begin to sell out!!

        WE ARE TEN!

        Sick On Sin Is Ten!

Wowza!! Sick On Sin is a decade old!

Back in 2005 I was working in the corporate dot com world, and while I had a great job and worked with amazing people my heart just wasn't in it. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life but thought it'd be fun to sell shirts and stuff while I figured the future out. The major thing standing in the way was my inability to draw but I just so happened to be shacking up with a pretty great artist. He offered to do my designs and boom bam boom things got rolling.

Fast forward 10 years and I honestly can't believe I'm still doing SOS. It's been such a fun and rewarding 'job', and while it may not be my dream job, I feel so lucky to have been able to spend the last decade running my own business. Of course I would not be sitting here typing about this anniversary if it wasn't for:

Michael: There would be no Sick On Sin if there wasn't for my superstar husband. While I come up with all the design ideas, he brings them to life with his cute and simple design style. In addition to all our artwork, he also helps me with all the technical stuff, chauffeuring me around to events and keeping me sane. He's awesome.

Family / Friends: I am so thankful for all of my family and friends that have helped me out at shows over the years. I can't believe people would give up their days off to assist me and I'm so blessed to have these folks in my life. It would have been impossible to do all the events I have done without them. I also wanted to thank all my family and friends who have supported me in other ways such as buying stuff and spreading the word about SOS.

Customers: It would have been pretty hard to get to 10 years if there weren't people buying my stuff so huge thanks to the thousands of folks around the world that have! Whether it was one pin or tons of shirts, I am so very grateful. Thank you also to everyone who says kind words to us at shows or online, that submits reviews to the site, and that sends us / posts photos showing off SOS purchases. I have always said we have the best customers and if I could high five each of you, I would!

          Here Be Dragons

I have a fondness for weird holidays, and off and on throughout the years we’ve done special promotions and designs based around wacky special occasions. Since it's the start of a new year, I thought it would be fun to pick a bunch to do in 2015. The first one we’re celebrating is....drumroll.... Appreciate A Dragon Day on January 16.

This holiday was created in 2004 by Donika Paul to mark the release of her book, DragonSpell. The purpose of the day is to encourage people to explore the significance of these magical creatures in literature. She proposed celebrating it by picking your favourite literary dragon and paying homage it through some form of art form (e.g. drawing, poem, puppet show, sculpture, etc.).

If you're looking for books that feature dragons you won't be met with a short supply. There are a ton. If you wanna see a big list, check out this Wikipedia page. But for now here are 9 that you’ve probably heard of:

          1. Jabberwock from Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through The Looking-Glass’. (1871)
          2. Smaug from JRR Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ (1937)
          3. Falkor from Michael Ende’s ‘The Neverending Story’ (1979)
          4. Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal from George RR Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire series’ (1996)
          5. Norbit from JK Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ series (1997)
          6. Saphira Bjartskular from Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle series (2002)
          7. Toothless from Cressida Cowell’s ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ series (2003)

So if you have a soft, scaly spot for dragons, January 16 would be the perfect day to get cozy and read (or reread) a book involving them. Of course, not everyone loves to read. If you’re in that camp then perhaps you could get cozy with the movie / television adaptation of one of the books listed above instead! Don't worry, I won't tell Ms. Paul! ;)

          ***********************************

How are we celebrating Appreciate A Dragon Day at Sick On Sin? With a special promotion of course! From Jan 15 - Jan 20 ALL items featuring our cute baby dragon designs are on sale! Show your love for these magical, mythical, mysterious beasts by treating yourself to a tee, undies, magnets, a sticker, etc.!

In addition to the 3 baby dragon designs we did back in 2012 (to celebrate Year of the Dragon), there are 2 new little fire-breathing friends. A super enthusiastic green dragon and a slightly naughty black dragon. These guys are available as pins, magnets, keychains, bottle openers and pocket mirrors. And are currently on sale for 50% off!!

          ***********************************

Gotta admit, this post has given me a hankering to watch The Neverending Story. Raise your hand if you also think Falkor is pretty creepy looking. Fox is still a little young for it, but I'm so excited to show him classics like this when he's older!

Are you a fan of dragons? Got a fave one? Tell me all about it! I'd also love to hear recommendations for books involving dragons. When I was going through that big list there were a few that sounded good. Of course most of my reading these days are picture books! (So if you have any dragon-related kid books to recommend, that works too!)

          High fives, Jen
